What happened
Sreedhar v. United States Government followed the Court’s January 31, 2025 dismissal of the action, which gave Srikant Sreedhar 30 days to file an amended complaint.
Sreedhar asked the Court to accept a submission that the Clerk’s Office could not upload to the electronic filing system. The Court denied the motion and reminded him that filings must comply with the system’s requirements.
Chief United States District Judge Laura Taylor Swain also certified that an appeal would not be taken in good faith and denied fee-free appeal status.
The detailed version

- Laura Swain
- Jan. 31, 2025
Background
By an order dated January 31, 2025, the Court dismissed the action while allowing 30 days to file an amended complaint. On the same day, the Clerk’s Office docketed Srikant Sreedhar’s motion, which the Court had received on January 30, 2025.
Motion
Sreedhar appeared to ask the Court to accept a submission that the Clerk’s Office could not upload to the court’s electronic filing system. The Court stated that, assuming the Clerk’s Office rejected an emailed submission because it did not meet the system’s requirements, Sreedhar must comply with those requirements. The Court denied the motion.
Appeal-related ruling
The Court certified under 28 U.S.C. § 1915(a)(3) that an appeal from this order would not be taken in good faith. It therefore denied permission to proceed without paying the required fees for an appeal. Judge Laura Taylor Swain signed the order as Chief United States District Judge.
