In Spin Master v. Aomore-US, Judge Ho granted Spin Master’s request to keep specific product sales figures under seal.
Spin Master, Ltd.’s confidential product-specific sales figures remain under seal; the public can access only the redacted version of the filing.
What happened
In Spin Master, Ltd. v. Aomore-US, Spin Master asked the court to continue protecting confidential sales figures for a specific toy from public disclosure.
Spin Master argued that its public filings did not reveal sales for the individual product. The defendants argued that the figures were not confidential because Spin Master publicly reports revenue information, but the court was told those reports provide only broader category totals.
The court granted Spin Master’s request to keep the sales figures in ECF No. 152 under seal and allowed a redacted version to remain publicly available at ECF No. 153. Judge Dale E. Ho also directed the clerk to terminate ECF No. 157.

Background
Spin Master asked the court to maintain the redaction and sealing of sales figures for a specific toy. The request concerned information included in materials related to Spin Master’s renewed request for a preliminary injunction. Spin Master relied on the court’s earlier decision authorizing redactions of its sales information and argued that detailed product-level sales data is confidential business information.
The defendants argued that the information should not be treated as confidential because Spin Master publicly reports revenue. Spin Master responded that its public filings do not disclose revenue attributable to specific products. According to the letter, those filings break revenue down only into broader categories, including toys and digital products and several toy groupings.
Ruling
The court granted Spin Master’s request to maintain ECF No. 152 under seal, for substantially the reasons stated in Spin Master’s letter. The court found that the proposed redactions were narrowly tailored to protect interests sufficient to overcome the presumption that court filings should be publicly accessible. A redacted version was available on the public docket at ECF No. 153. Judge Dale E. Ho directed the clerk to terminate ECF No. 157.
