What happened
Trustees of several New York City carpenters’ funds, the Carpenter Contractor Alliance of Metropolitan New York, and the New York City District Council of Carpenters filed a petition against Triangle Enterprise NYC, Inc. The petition sought confirmation of an arbitration award.
The court explained that arbitration-award confirmation proceedings are handled much like a request for summary judgment. It ordered the petitioners to file additional supporting materials by February 21, 2020, including a certified copy of the award and sworn or certified copies of the relevant contracts.
The order set March 6, 2020, for Triangle Enterprise’s opposition and March 20, 2020, for the petitioners’ reply. Judge Ronnie Abrams also required the petitioners to serve the order on the respondent and file proof of service. The order did not decide whether to confirm the arbitration award.

Background
The petitioners are Trustees of the New York City District Council of Carpenters Pension Fund, Welfare Fund, Annuity Fund and Apprenticeship, Journeyman Retraining, Educational and Industry Fund; Trustees of the New York City Carpenters Relief and Charity Fund; Carpenter Contractor Alliance of Metropolitan New York; and New York City District Council of Carpenters. The respondent is Triangle Enterprise NYC, Inc.
On January 29, 2020, the petitioners filed a complaint seeking confirmation of an arbitration award. The opinion states that confirmation proceedings in the Second Circuit must be treated as similar to a motion for summary judgment.
Order
