Background
Plaintiff Shaquille Stephens brought a wage-and-hour and employment-discrimination lawsuit against Create Restaurants NY Inc. and NYC 004 213 E 45th St NY LLC. The parties informed the court on December 12, 2022, that they had reached a settlement in principle.
The court ordered the parties to submit the settlement for a required review under Pancake House, Inc. v. Kijakazi by January 10, 2023. After the parties missed that deadline because of a calendaring error, the court ordered them on January 12 to submit the settlement by January 17. The parties had exchanged drafts and were close to finalizing and signing the agreement, but requested additional time. The defendants consented to the request.
