Background
The government asked for a 60-day extension of the deadline for the United States, the Department of State, the Secretary of State, and Robert Molle to answer or otherwise respond to the amended complaint. It also asked to adjourn the initial conference scheduled for May 18, 2021, to a date two weeks after July 27, 2021. The plaintiffs’ counsel consented to both requests.
The government said it needed additional time to evaluate the claims, consult with agency counsel, and coordinate responses for multiple defendants. It also stated that the Department of Justice was seeking authority to represent Robert Molle and Joseph Andrews.
